DESCRIPTION: I have enjoyed visiting The Old House Restaurant for many years. The way the Old House is nestled in Historic Kimmswick really makes you feel like you are home away from home. The staff here is extremely friendly and they truly do make you feel welcome. The environment at the Old House is extraordinary as you seem to slip back in time to get a taste of how life was once lived as you dine and visit with friends in such a majestic cabin. The Old House Restaurant is my establishment of choice when I visit Kimmswick. If you want peace, go to the Old House. If you want the best onion soup you'll ever have the pleasure of tasting, go to the Old House.

christmas party 2004
DESCRIPTION: Our department at a large metro St Louis hospital planned a Christmas party at the old house restaurant in December 2004. Our table was not ready at the stated reserved time. Once we were seated our waitress was practically missing in action. My husband and I spent approximately $60.00 for dinner and a drink a piece which by itself is a little pricey, but we thought we were getting a superb experience. We were wrong. Our food was small in portion size, cold, cold, cold. The steak was tough and our waitress was a little irritated when we tried to express our dissatisfaction. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone. Not even someone I don't care for!

A little piece of heaven.
DESCRIPTION: This was the absolute best dining experience of my life. The warm atmosphere and the hospitality of the servers leaves even the pickiest customer satisfied.

I walked into a different world, a different time.
DESCRIPTION: There is not a thing wrong with this restaurant!The waitresses in their long aprons,their kindness.The beautiful dining room. The elegance...Even the big burly men enjoyed theirselves. The bakery was to die for. There is even a little gift corner, which I almost bought out.

DESCRIPTION: You can't go wrong at the Blue Owl, especially with down-home standards like fried chicken. I have tried several dishes that were just excellent. My favorite lunch is the soup and salad choice. They've had white chicken chile for years--before it was popular elsewhere. My least favorite lunch was a baked chicken salad casserole--just not to my taste. You must save room for one of those decedent desserts. That's half the experience.
