Another Near Miss On Keith Whitley's RCA Years / 3
This is RCA's fifth attempt at compiling Keith Whitley's RCA years, and it still falls short of their first (Greatest Hits from 1990). It's not just missing Miami, My Amy (#14, 1986), but it all but neglects his final CD. Eight of these 16 songs are on 1988's Don't Close Your Eyes, while his last CD, 1989's I Wonder Do You Think Of Me only gets ONE (!?) song (the title track). Makes you wonder if Rich Kienzle (the compiler and liner notes writer for this CD) has something against Whitley's final album. The compilation as a whole might be a good 2nd Hits album for the Whitley novice. The performances, of course, are great. The sound is good and the liner notes are 2002 up-to-date. But if you're looking to start your RCA Whitley collection, here's 3 to own first: Greatest Hits (1990), I Wonder Do You Think Of Me (1989) and Don't Close Your Eyes (1988). Count this as another near-miss on compiling Keith Whitley's RCA years.
Song "Nothing At All"
It's amazing how you can speak right to my heart
Without saying a word, you can light up the dark
Try as I may I could never explain
What I hear when you don't say a thing
Chorus:
The smile on your face let's me know that you need me
There's a truth in your eyes saying you'll never leave me
A touch of your hand says you'll catch me if ever I fall
Now you say it best when you say nothing at all
All day long I can hear people talking out loud
But when you hold me near, you drown out the crowd
Old Mr. Webster could never define
What's being said between your heart and mine
Chorus:
The smile on your face let's me know that you need me
There's a truth in your eyes saying you'll never leave me
A touch of your hand says you'll catch me if ever I fall
Yeah you say it best when you say nothing at all
Chorus:
The smile on your face let's me know that you need me
There's a truth in your eyes saying you'll never leave me
A touch of your hand says you'll catch me if ever I fall
Yeah you say it best when you say nothing at all

Country comes to Columbus (The Lantern)
The frigid Friday night was filled with the yelps of blue collar boys and country club girls at Germain Amphitheater. Turnout was great for WCOL's Brad Paisley concert.
